Reports
Reports are the accounting outputs, drawn from booked invoices and expenses. Interface in Dutch, like the rest of the finance module.
What is here
Winst & verlies — profit and loss. Revenue (Omzet) against costs, for the selected period.
Balans — the balance sheet.
BTW-aangifte — the VAT return, per quarter, broken down by rubriek (box). This is the report that is prepared to be filed: the boxes correspond to the ones on the return, and each is fed by the VAT codes on your invoice and expense lines. Getting a VAT code wrong on a line shows up here as a number in the wrong box, which is exactly where you want to catch it.
Openstaand — outstanding receivables and payables.
Period
Select a Jaar (year), and for VAT a Kwartaal (quarter). VAT is quarterly because that is the standard Dutch filing period.
Drafts do not count
Reports include what has been booked — Verstuurd or later for invoices, Geboekt or later for expenses. Drafts are excluded, and the page says so: tellen nog niet mee, "do not count yet".
This is the single most common surprise in the finance module. A number that looks too low almost always means documents sitting in Concept. Check the draft filters on Invoices and Expenses before concluding the report is wrong.
Reports versus budget
Reports work on the books — accrual, VAT, profit. Budget works on cash — what actually moved through the bank. They will not reconcile, and should not: an invoice you have raised is revenue today and cash whenever they get around to paying.
Before you file
These are the outputs of your own bookkeeping, and they are exactly as correct as the classification and coding behind them. Kancil computes; it does not audit. Treat the VAT return as a prepared draft to check, not an answer.
