Budget

Budget compares what you planned to spend with what you actually spent, using the categories set up in Budget categories.

What it draws on

Actuals come from classified bank transactions. That dependency is the thing to understand about this page: it is only as good as the classification work. An unworked transaction queue means a budget that is quietly wrong rather than obviously empty.

The views

• Gepland vs. werkelijk — planned versus actual, per category.
• Uitgaven per categorie — spending by category.
• Inkomsten vs. uitgaven per maand — income against spending, by month.
• Grootste uitgaven (tegenpartij) — largest spends by counterparty. This is the one that answers "where is it all going" fastest.
• Saldo — the balance of income against spending.

Filters

Deze maand (this month) or Dit jaar (this year), and a scope of Zakelijk, Privé, or Alles (everything).

The business/private scope matters: mixing them produces a picture that is true of neither. Most of the time you want one or the other.

Ongecategoriseerd

There is an explicit Ongecategoriseerd — uncategorised — bucket. It is not a failure state to hide; it is a measure of how far behind the classification work is. When it is large, the rest of the page is provisional.

Budget versus reports

Budget is about cash: what left the account, against what you intended. Reports is about the books: revenue, profit, VAT. They answer different questions and will not agree — an invoice raised is revenue but not yet cash, and that gap is the point of having both.
