Calendar

Calendar shows the events in the CalDAV calendars you have connected. Set them up in Calendar (CalDAV) settings; the mechanics of DAV sync are in CalDAV and CardDAV sync.

Views

Month, Week and List. Month and Week are the familiar grids; List is a chronological run, which is the one that answers "what is coming up" without counting squares.

Range and kind

Two filters sit above the views:

• Range — Today, Next 7 days, Next month, Upcoming, Past, or All.
• Kind — Events or Todos.

The kind filter exists because CalDAV carries both. Todos are VTODOs, which is how tasks can appear in a calendar client when task sync is enabled — so this view can show your Kancil tasks alongside your appointments.

You can also filter by calendar when several are connected.

An event

Summary, start and end, location, description, attendees. Selecting one opens its detail page, addressed by calendar plus uid — both parts, because a uid is only unique within its calendar.

As with contacts, Kancil's own layer — tags, links, comments, attachments — attaches to the event without touching the underlying iCalendar data, so nothing you do here can confuse another client writing to the same calendar.

The sync window

You will not see events from arbitrarily far in the past or future: each account syncs a window, set in days past and days future. If a meeting from three years ago is missing, that is the window, not a bug. See CalDAV and CardDAV sync.

On the dashboard

The next events inside your chosen horizon appear on the dashboard, with time and location — the "what is next" glance that saves opening this page at all.
